The Flock - Original Acrylic Abstract Painting - Lou Belcher

The Flock

Acrylic Abstract Painting

gallery-wrapped canvas

This was a fun one to paint.  I love painting abstract after I get going. It's very intimidating at first.  Many people say.... "My kid could paint that," when they see an abstract, but it is actually more difficult than painting in other genres.
Anyway, hope you enjoy The Flock. I had a great time painting it.

Flowers Everywhere...

I have been painting flowers for 21 days now in the 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge.  Today's painting is a departure.  Although there are flowers, I've taken a break to do a cartoon for my Cats with Shades series...

Here he is...

I also made a collage of 9 of the paintings for this month so you can see a sampling of what I've been doing.

And, I've added a gadget in the right column for you to click to Fine Art America where prints as well as greeting cards, etc are available of my artwork.

30 Paintings in 30 Days... September 2017

I am participating in the 2017 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge.  This is my first painting of the series, and I'll show you a couple of the others.  You can find them all in my gallery on Daily Paintworks... CLICK HERE... to go there.

For the most part, the paintings are done in acrylics, and this year I have chosen flowers as my theme.  I have used these paintings to experiment more than to fuss over them in any great detail.  I'm taking a couple of oil classes on line right now and am playing with the acrylics to practice some of the techniques I'm learning.  (I would practice in oil, but with the cats and the time that it takes for oils to dry...  haha... it's just not a good combination to have paintings sitting around drying... LOL.)

Here are a couple more... hope you enjoy.

This one is mixed media: watercolor, ink and colored pencil.
That's it for today.  Just finished the 16th in this series today.  I'll post a few more in a few days.

The Eclipse.... and inspiration...

Of course there needs to be a little art about the eclipse.  Whimsy came out today...

I wanted the boys (Bugsy and cats) to pose with eclipse glasses.  They would not agree to that, so ...when it doubt, revert to a cartoon pal. Hope you get a good view if you are so inclined.

Art Quote of the Day

If you wish to make certain your painting will succeed, a minimum of three things must come from you -- and only you. The first thing is knowing why you ant to paint your subject,  the second is an analytical grasp of what you see, and the third is the skill to control the process of painting.
~ Richard Schmid ... Alla Prima II ~

Have a great day... and be safe in the exposure of your eyes to the eclipse.

Flower Conference

Flower Conference by Lou Belcher
Finished this painting yesterday morning and sold it in the afternoon... That's what's called a GOOD DAY.  This one is 24" x 30" x 1.5" on gallery wrapped canvas.  As you can see the flowers seem to be communicating to one another.  Not sure that is true, but I certainly enjoyed painting this one.
